Development progress for the OccasionWise Facebook Application 13-Mar-2008

Written by Martin Guppy

We really wanted the next version of the Facebook application finished by now but we have ran into a few minor server limitations that will prevent a few features.

Even though our servers are connected to the internet via a high speed backbone, it appears that automatically generating individualised calendars based on filtering will be quite impossible at this time and as such, Friends birthdays and Friends events can not be automatically inserted into a users profile (Not quite the end of the world though, we hope to include them within the users application page at a later date).

Everyone gets a UTC/GMT calendar at this moment in time and as such user time zones are of a high priority, we are working on various methods to streamline the update process for use on users profiles and pages.

Current Bugs and Limitations

  • Forward and back buttons within the calendar only work on the users application page
    • This is not our fault and seems to be a very intermittent problem on behalf of Facebook as sometimes the buttons do work and sometimes they don’t. We will be submitting a bug report to Facebook shortly.
